Jiří Wolf: A Tour of Baroque Duchcov

Start at 2pm next to the Duchcov Municipal Museum.

The topology of the Baroque space of the city Duchcov and the Cistercian Monastery in Osek according the archive materials.

Body-cloth-room (cell)-house (cloister)-town (landscape).

Remnants of the city fortifications. Beyond the fortification: society of the walled town in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Sacred locations in Duchcov (Church of Zvěstování P. Marie, Church of sv. Barbora, Heymann's Chapel).

Locations of dread in Duchcov: cemeteries, and the like. The boundary betwen death and life, underground Duchcov, ghosts and demons of the local landscape.

Historian Jiří Wolf (1974) graduated from FF Charles University in Prague. He works in the Duchcov Municipal Museum. He is an expert on local history and archive manuscripts as a source for studies of the imagination in Baroque Bohemia.
