Towards the last day of the Czech expedition, before the evening of presentations and concerts we took with Ondřej Vavrečka an expedition up to hills above Osek. The goal was to reach Dlouhá louka. Small road gradually changed into a narrow path through the forest, following ancient pilgrim road connecting Osek and settlemens near borders. We passed by several abandoned houses and new bungalows - constructed in peculiar style popular in the Communists era. When we approached the ruins of the Osek Castle, we encountered a rare Fire Newt (Mlok skvrnitý), and we were told that this small area is a ecological niche for this rather precious amphibian. Finally we arrived to the village and on our way back we watched the lights down in the open quarries, several powerplants and the lake of Most in the dramatic sundown. In the village Dlouhá Louka lived 5 inhabitans in 1991 and in 2001 8 people. Before the war more then 150 lived there in 1831 273 poeple: Frontiers of Solitude.
