Lignite Clouds Sound Workshop: Days I and II
The first day of Peter Cusack's sound and environment workshop we went to explore the vanished village of Libkovice. (Earlier this week we watched the photography documents of local photographer Ibra Ibramovič from early 90ies, it was time when the village became the place of conflict between the inhabitants of the village and the mining company. In 2005 was the last standing structure of the village - the church demolished, because it was "recycled" by locals. The mining activity under Libkovice did finally not happened.
Participants: Michal Kindernay, Dominik Žižka, Sonya Darrow, Lloyd Dunn, Tomáš Šenkyřík. Martin Marek, Luboš Svoboda, Martin Zet, Þórunn Eymundardóttir, Gunhild Enger, Tommi Høvik, Kristin Rúnarsdóttir and Markus Held (from Leipzig).
Friday evening Peter Cusack introduced at the vicarage hostel at Mariánské Radčice (where we had a pleasant accommodation) his concepts of sonic journalism and his work related to the Sounds from Dangerous Places project, especially talked about his visits to the town of Chernobyl exclusion zone.
"Walking around solitary roads along remnants of old orchards and outlines of house basements was accompanied by omnipresent noise of near open pit. Literally just behind a small hill there are huge excavators digging day and nigh aproaching towards the village Mariánské Radčice. We split into groups or went to explore the landscape and soundcape individually. Everybody made specific sound recordings, drawings or acts examining specific area, phenomenon or concept. In the evening we discussed individual approaches and impressions and the program for next day."
Sunday we went to Záluží chemical area, rested at the Jezeří Castle to look in to the abbyss and went to Osek Monastery
